UX/UI design work on Trivia for You, a title under the Microsoft Solitaire portfolio at Xbox Game Studios, including the game's first-time user experience. Shaping onboarding and early-session pacing for a live, publicly available game.
Trivia for You is out, and it sits in the Microsoft Solitaire network. My contract ran May to August 2026, which ended before the numbers that would tell you whether the onboarding worked. Research findings and performance data are not mine to publish either way, so this page stays at what is already public: what shipped, and what I was working on.
Trivia for You is a live trivia game under the Microsoft Solitaire portfolio, part of Microsoft Casual Game Studios at Xbox Game Studios. It is live now, part of the Microsoft Solitaire network, and playable on zone.msn.com.
I was a UX/UI Designer on the title for four months, working on its first-time user experience: how new players are onboarded, and how the first few sessions are paced before they settle into the core game loop.
FTUE design covers the first few minutes a player spends in a game, before they've decided whether to stay. This engagement focuses on three connected layers.
Sequencing what a new player sees and does first, and how quickly they reach a meaningful moment in the game.
How the first few sessions are structured so new players understand the game without feeling rushed or stalled.
Laying groundwork in the first-run experience that supports players coming back, without relying on specific findings yet publishable.
Screenshots are from the launched build at zone.msn.com. My contract ran to August 2026, so this is the work as I left it rather than a running changelog. Want to see it yourself? Play Trivia For You →

Which is the part I would rather you did than read me describe it. The onboarding is the first thing you will touch.
